So the title of this blog may seem a bit misleading, as Donnie Hathaway's logo and branding design have been out and about for about a year now. It's just taken me a while to write a quick blog on it and share it with the world!
Designing a logo and brand concept is an incredibly fun task to do. I love the challenge of researching different industries and seeing how aesthetics change from year to year and decade to decade. The best way for me to describe my design process is like a snowball effect. I have the main idea and I start creating it using Adobe Illustrator. From there, if something else comes to mind I copy over the original and add on to it. It just keeps going and going until I have {what seems like} 20+ concepts across my artboards.
For Donnie, he wanted a logo to complement the colors of his real estate brokerage, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Properties Group, but also spoke to who HE was as a person. Donnie and his wife love being outdoors and they can be in the great sunshine state of Florida! So I wanted to incorporate some blue tones into his logo to mimic the water of the Gulf of Mexico. Here's a glimpse into some of the initial concepts when starting this journey with Donnie!
As you can see, the snowball effect landed us into a simple design focused on his first initial and last name in hand-written script {by yours truly}. It's modern and sleek, making it easy to incorporate into the branding provided by his real estate brokerage while still allowing him to have his own brand.
